Plants, Pets and Kids and your Condo

Plants are some of the best and easiest home warmers around, they give your home/condo an earthy feel with little cost. there are however some safety issues when it comes to plants for some of the best house plants are deadly or may contain enough toxins to make you child sick if it is ingested. Even some fruiting plants like the lowly tomato has toxins in the plant’s stem and leaves that is highly toxic so keep them away from pets and kids. Pets who love to play around your house plants such as aloe vera which is a very potent irritant if ingested or the sap gets onto tender tissue. Lily’s have poisonous roots or bulbs that contain toxins too even with their beautifully large and colorful flowers (the pollen is staining). Euphorbias, or those spiny plants that flowers prolifically has sap that contains neuro-toxins, keep all parts of the plants in sealed containers even dead or dried up parts.
Plants are beautiful additions to any home, just make sure you get ones that are safe around kids and pets. Avoid ones with colorful berries for they are like magnets for kids however innocent and beautiful they may be.
